Flight cancelled and not happy with rebooking
I was booked on a 1am flight from JFK to JNB via DOH and I was notified my flight was cancelled. I went into manage my booking to see what alternate flight I was given. It put me on a flight arriving 36 hours after my original flight. That option does not work for me because I have a flight on Airlink to Kruger Park. I called Qatar Airways to moved to a different flight. Qatar airways has a flight leaving several hours earlier (20:55) but I was told I couldn't get moved to that flight because that flight didn't have the same fare class as mine. I booked a comfort class business class seat. I paid cash for the ticket.
I was given two options. 1). take the flight that has me arrive 36 hours later than my original flight or 2). a flight that has me leaving 15 hours earlier (11:00). I took the flight option leaving 15 hours earlier. I haven't never had an airline cancel a flight and not give me an alternate flight that is close to my original flight time.
Is this common with Qatar? Was I given misinformation?
