Well that was a disappointing call. My 241 original tickets were 25/08/21 out 06/09/21 back, both in First and booked in 2020. My intent was just to push it on 1 year so out 24/08/22 and return 05/09/22.
Gave the agent the ticket ref only to be told it had expired and could not be resurrected and told me my only options were refund or voucher and that I had already been told that (intimating that this was my own fault). I explained the 355 day thing but I could see it wasn't working. She said she needed to talk to back office and get it sorted. I explained I was concerned about newly released seats going so could be hold the award seats while we figure it out, which she did. Once she was gone it dawned on me she was issuing a refund and so any chance of me getting the outcome I wanted was lost.
Upon her return I tried to explain again, she then went away and also looked back through the notes, which appear to be pretty sporadic and not representative of all of the conversations I'd had. She said as the ticket had expired I was out of luck so I could see I was on a loser here but more worried about not getting anything at all for next year.
Long story short, I now have a pending refund for the original ticket, an expiring 241 (which I can fix), have lost out on first both ways, but at least I have a new/fresh booking in CW as there was still availability. Overall a very poor experience of totally inconsistent handling and responses and a loss of 1st both ways on something that was cancelled by BA. Real shame - the very first person I spoke to about it in August understood it completely and I'm sure would have been able to resolve this.
Might follow up with a complaint but confidence is low that it will make any difference.
