Anyway, it just does not occur to me that people are really abusing the wheelchair service or that the wheelchairs affect you in anyway.
But, if it is really being abused, I would not mind if some sort of documentation be required (Probably a doctor's note, similar to ESAs?)
In my mother's case, I have no doubt that her PCP or Orthopedic would have no issue in issuing a letter for her.

But again, then, just like with ESAs, people can easily fake ailments and/or letters, then what's the point?
If the wheelchair system is not particularly being abused (I may be wrong) then no need to implement such measures?

Cheers,
Anecdotally, the ESA abuse has dropped since some boundaries were drawn. We aren't hearing as many wild stories either of Emotional Support horses and monkeys in cabins everywhere.

A doctor's note or something might work. Think like handicap hang tags or plates in a car; they aren't difficult to get, while also being difficult enough that hordes of people don't have them and flood the reserved parking.

Wheelchairs should not be a concierge service to get to the gate for anyone that wants one. AA has Five Star for this exact purpose.
