I believe Homeland Security issued a warning that the anniversary of 9/11 might inspire extremist attacks so hence the extra security I assume at Albany. NYC traffic was awful on 9/11 as police were everywhere and roads were blocked as I assume they were locking down areas for the arrival for the President and ex-Presidents for the memorial on the 12th. Wondering if LGA/JFK were also like Albany that day.
I don't know where we get this "anniversary attack" mentality, but it's ludicrous.
Starting with the 1st anniversary 19 years ago, people were paranoid that there would be a follow-up attack. There wasn't. These days, the paranoia spikes only on the milestone anniversaries - 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 years, etc. But there was none.
Terrorists don't really strike when you expect them to. They generally strike when and where you don't expect them, because where you expect them has higher security than where you don't expect them. If that makes sense.
