That changes things slightly. Even though you have to pick up your bags in either case (and make your way to the UA terminal), you don't officially have any protection with UA. If the QR flight arrives very late or is cancelled, UA does not have to accommodate you on a later flight (but may anyway). I personally think it is cutting it very close.
Understood. This is the end of an AA award trip. I booked the UA flight because the AA one that was part of the award had over a 5 hour layover. Didn’t want to hang around that long after the long flight from Doha. Still have the AA flight in force as a backup if the UA doesn’t work.
