I've only connected through CLT once, but it was a good experience and would normally be fine with this, however, I'm worried if I miss the flight I might be short on options back to ATL.
40 mins is certainly tight coming off an ERJ, however I would just go with it given it's a morning departure and there are 5-6 later CLT-ATL flights you could get rebooked on if things were delayed.
