Yeah, that's normal. Your original itinerary/reservation is cancelled, but the ticket that was attached to it is still valid a year from when it was issued (as long as it's not a saver fare).
yeah that's the thing. the ticket wasn't issued this month; it was issued in january 2021. so i would expect it to be valid through january 2022, not september 2022.
