I realize why new devs use carpeting (which is prob more cost-driven than insulation-driven IMO).
But there are ways luxury buildings/developments can get around the noise issue (ie insulating underlay) but no feasible way to get around the cost issue. Therefore, carpets just feel cheap to me.
