I had this sort of situation with a Chase-issued ticket on UA. UA let me use the credit for a replacement UA flight.
Not so fast unless Chase/Expedia changed their T&Cs. to an extent it doesnt matter what an airline has as its T&Cs. I purchased a tkt and realized < 3 mins later that Chase had teh day before for the same fare and Chase wanted $75 as a change fee. They admited that the airline allows a free no penalty CXing/change, but said I didnt buy it from teh airline but from Chase and I need to go with their T&Cs and not the airlines
