Quick follow up because I realize I didn't really address the aim of the OP. If it's airport-adjacent hotels you're after, of course Amex FHR or Virtuoso won't be of any help there. But if you're making a weekend of it somewhere or doing an overnight in a city, could work. But if cheapest but least awful hotel is the aim, that's a different story.
