Hello

It just has to be QF0710. The LAX-SYD did not arrive in Sydney until 0625, and I recall spending a couple of hours in the British Airways lounge before leaving for Cairns. Overall, that has to represent the best fit. The other one (QF167 was just too early to be the one I flew), and I have zero recollection of it being a stop-over on the way to somewhere else (NRT or anywhere).

I have updated my logbook with this info, with a note commenting on your advice (which once again is VERY gratefully received). With the flight number, one day it might be possible to ID the aircraft Registration. It was 100% a B747.

Kind regards
Stephen
