The day 2 test is going to be a big red flag for a lot of incoming travelers, both in terms of the cost and the inconvenience of having to take time away from your vacation to get a test when you just got one a few days ago. And for Americans, we currently need a test prior to coming home, too. So for an American to take a trip to the UK, you'd need 3 tests (pre-departure, day 2, pre-return).
Count yourself lucky as for Brits going to America it's 3 tests and 15 days kicking your heels in Mexico where you are quite likely to pick up the disease.
