I don't have any plans to travel and plus since the credit has to be used at a Resort while I stay in NYC which means no resorts nearby and so my options are:
- I would have to scramble and book a out of state trip just to utilize this credit and most probably at high rates since advance purchases don't trigger.
- Do a dummy booking and see if resort deposit thing works out though it might most probably be clawed back by Amex but in my situation I would most probably forfeit it if not try that method or go with first option.
If anyone had suggestions/inputs on how to salvage with this, I would really appreciate it.
If I was in your position, I would pick a property that you are likely to stay at, even as a staycation, sometime in the future.
Call them up and tell them you want to make a reservation for a future period and pay immediately.
They may tell you that they need you to send back a credit card authorization form.
Once you do that, they should be happy to bill you.
If your dates change, I would call the property back and work with them directly to avoid any refunds and Amex clawbacks. Good Luck,
