If there was more than one flight the flight with the lower availability will be shown. Likely if you searched each leg alone you would have seen PZ available on your upgraded segment.
So in a sense, there may be "hidden" PZ inventory for multi-segment itineraries. This is why many of us check overwater segments separately.
