Tricky N26 Metal Card Travel protection via Allianz
So I was booked on a 06.30 am KLM flight from ARN-AMS-LAX. Arriving Los Angeles around Lunchtime same day. First they informed us flight was delayed due to the Tank truck touched one of the plane engines and they needed to consult with Amsterdam. At 08.30 they informed us we will get an email or text on rerouting our flights. I got a text they booked me on Aeroflot via Moskva at lunchtime and arriving 20.00 into LAX. For many reasons I do not fly via Moskva and since Finnair had a flight that would get me into LAX around 4 pm, I could the customer service and was told not possible. I went to the customer counter at Arlanda and they told me there is no KLM service contact at the airport. Finally after 3 hours a great agent at a KLM call center booked me on Finnair and flight worked fine. I called the N26 customer service number the agent that was very knowledgeable informed where to file cancelled/delayed compensation and tried to see if Allianz covered any other costs. Filed with Allianz and the replies were too funny first, We do not cover cancelled flights with airlines that no longer are operating due to Financial hardship! We do not cover Cancelled, Rerouted flights. So the only time according to Allianz I would have been covered was if the same flight I was booked on would leave more than 4 hours later than scheduled. This was July and still trying to get some delay compensation and the N26 customer service says they can not help me since the policy is with Allianz. So much for paying extra for Metal card and the Card companies advertisement. KLM came through with the regular EUR 600 delay compensation without any issues.
