No "plat talk", just an personal "welcome onboard". Also bought a wine both ways. The terminal did not work with contactless, but with chip it worked instantly. Probably depends on card, if it accepts offline transactions, as they had no connection. They had a lot of problems with the terminal though both ways and were complaining about it.
