It’s such a shame that plans to preserve the fabric of the buildings continue to be delayed. I remember seeing a recent press report that estimated costs had risen to €2 billion. It's hard to see anything meaningful happening for years.

Don't miss the memorial to the airlift in the (really rather lovely) little park outside THF. And do take the chance for a walk through Tempelhofer Feld afterwards - it won't be remain pristine if certain politicians get their way. There is a perfectly acceptable beer garden just past the airport buildings on the Columbiadamm side from which to watch the sunset and marvel at the open space.

One final note - Platz der Luftbrücke U-bahn is undergoing extensive works and the nearest exits are closed. If any of your party would be more comfortable using an elevator, you will need to go one stop down to Paradestr.

Hi,

Thanks for that slicktony. Will be on my own so the exits being closed will not affect me. Weather permitting I will visit Victoria Park first before the memorial ( the park has a nice waterfall according to guidebooks and photos).

I don't use a tripod ( not that professional a photographer) but hopefully get off a few photos with my DSLR ( Nikon D7500) on a point and shoot mode with some ISO adjustments and lighting conditions or my mobile phone.

Regards

TBS
