Someone always screws up during changes, so I would be cautiously optimistic that we see some sort of temporary window where some of the BIN blocking at WM et al, is not working.
Sadly, OTOH, this is why Chase is giving all merchants a 8 month window in which to make the changes necessary to accomodate the new cards.
While small time businesses may not make it in time, I suspect the mega retailers will have the IT alterations well in hand by the time April '22 roles around to accommodate the new cards 8 digit BINs.
