I don't have any Hyatt status but I just opened a World of Hyatt credit card because a) it makes me a Discoverist, for whatever that's worth, and b) with the current double elite nights benefit at the end of the trip I will be at Globalist. The card should come in the mail in the next couple of days.
I'm wondering if it would be possible and worth it to do a mattress run before the trip to try to get Globalist, so we can utilize those perks at all the properties during our upcoming trip. I would need 13 nights to get Globalist, with the current double-nights benefit for new cardholders. There are some Hyatt properties near me at which I can book 13 nights for $1200 or 65,000 points - I would likely again pay with points.
Two questions: 1) If I finished the mattress run on September 18, would the 26 qualifying nights from this stay post to my account fast enough so that by the time I checked in on September 20, I would have elite status? 2) Would this be worth it? I think it would save me about $150 in parking, plus maybe $500 in breakfast costs (assuming $20 per person for 13 days) - so that's $650 right there, before considering potential room upgrades. Getting a suite would obviously be great, but frankly we would be happy if we even moved to an ocean view room from the regular garden view rooms we booked with points.
Thanks for your help!
Hyatt and Chase say it could take up to 8 weeks for the double nights to post so I wouldn’t count on receiving the credits in time for your trip as others have said.
