BA CW SFO-LHR "Pod" Seating 777 v. 787-9

For years on SFO-LHR flights in Club World on various BA planes — e.g., Airbus A380-800, Boeing 747/777 — my wife and I have sat in the center seats in 2-4-2 configurations (often seats 10E-F), essentially a "private pod" for two travelers, once you put up the screens. In 2022, we're booked on a 787-9 Dreamliner, whose CW configuration is 2-3-2, which has removed our "two-person pod," alas. We have seats on the windows, e.g., 6A-B, 6J-K, which, of course have the zig-zag alignment, not side by side, as we've been used to.

Curious if there are threads related to this topic and how travelers feel about this. I'm not sure if upgrading to First Class, which has a 1-2-1 configuration, is an affordable option. The middle seats there are described as ideal for companions traveling together.
