Discussion Our analysis shows that the booster dose of the BNT162b2 vaccine is highly effective in reducing the risk of both confirmed infection and severe illness. For example, if the combined effect of waning immunity and the Delta variant decrease the efficacy of a vaccine given >6 months ago against infection to ≈50%, as recent reports have suggested 16,17, and if the booster dose reduces the relative risk by 10-fold, it means that the probability of a booster vaccinated individual to being susceptible to infection would decrease to ≈5% (=50%/10) relative to unvaccinated individuals. This brings vaccine efficacy for booster-vaccinated individuals to ≈95%, similar to the original “fresh” vaccine efficacy reported against the Alpha strain 11,15 .

I think its a wonderful Idea to only boost the fragile. However its hard to imagine anywhere in Africa that has the cold storage for Pfizer/Moderna, except big cities like CPT which is pretty sophisticated. JnJ would work there.
We have a funeral in a couple of weeks. All the adults have had at least both shots, but 5 children haven't. I can't derail my sister in law, so I expect this to be a mini super spreader event. Wish us luck. I actually wouldn't mind getting a mild case, but I do like wine so long term anosmia would suck big time.
