A lot of those "fancier" IHG hotels (and even the less fancy ones) may try to tack on an "amenity" fee (or "resort" fee) even when using the credit card anniversary night. In some cases, the fee may only be $5 to $7, but it can be more than that (e.g., $35). Not necessarily unaffordable, but annoying.
