Yes. Done it plenty of times--driven out to the airport the afternoon/night before to check in. You must be within 24 hours of the first flight's scheduled departure time. You will not be able to check bags until day of departure, but you can obtain your boarding passes within 24 hours. Given Covid documentation requirements, you might need to check in with an agent, rather than on a kiosk. Be sure to use your PNR (record locator) to type into the kiosk or give the agent, to avoid confusion. Do not use your first flight number as a reference, since it might also operate on the calendar day when you check in, rather than the day you are going to travel. Using your PNR code instead will immediately bring up your reservation.
After you have your printed boarding passes, you should be able to refresh the AA app and generate the mobile passes to add to your digital wallet, which I find much more convenient for security and boarding than the printed passes.
