While they don't directly face the luau, you can certainly hear it from the living room, especially if you have the south-facing window open.

Ocean Front Suites are a third category and are located at the end of the Napili Tower, which is quite a haul from the Regency Club. AFAIK they are about the same size as the Ocean View Suites and obviously don't have any luau noise. The hotel website doesn't label them as either a standard or a premium suite--they certainly won't let you use a TSU on it, but unclear whether you can redeem a premium suite award for this suite type.
The Lu'au is not running 7 days a week. I think dinner starts early like 5PM or so. The show ended before 9PM. Noise was never a problem. We took a boardwalk and wanted to head back to watch/hear the Lu'Au. But it was already ended. So that never bothered us. I can see this is a problem for people at lower floors. We stayed at high floor.

Not sure if you can say the rooms at Lahaina are for "point people". The Regency Clubb is at the Lahaina tower. I certainly do not want to walk all the distance from Napili tower daily to the RC. I'd be happy to be one of those "point people".

At Lahaina tower, clearly there are Ocean View suites on North/South sides. I do not know what they call the ocean front suites at the corners or facing the ocean. When I asked if we got ocean view suite, the agent told me we were assigned an ocean front suite.
