(Peppa) Pigs on a Plane

I know how hard it is to travel with kids. I’ve travelled with my now 11 year olds to 24 countries and 5 continents. Sometimes they’ve been noisy. Sometimes they’ve misbehaved. Encouraged by the cabin crew they built tents on the way to Mauritius and I once awoke somewhere between Singapore and Sydney to find them standing on their seats and playing catch across the F cabin. I’ve always done my best to keep them entertained, fed and nipped bad behaviour in the bud but I’m far from perfect.

I think I’m reasonably empathetic to the challenges of travelling with children. Baby babbling is unavoidable as is the occasional kicking of seats and even a couple of pats on the head. But having to listen to 2.5 hours of Peppa Pig watched without headphones on a flight to Malaga this morning was a complete joke. Even my Bose noise cancelling headphones were insufficient to drown out the dulcet tones of Miss Rabbit. Is it now considered acceptable for parents of small children to do this?

The experience was topped off with a nappy change on the table between the A and C seats in CW just before landing.

For anyone wondering about how I dealt with it - I attempted to sleep and kept my mouth shut. Life’s too short to start a holiday with a row.
