Thanks. I'm not worried about EQN. I am already nearing 300 for this year and it's only August (yes, double night promo earlier this year helped me a bit). I'm more worried about the points. I don't want to lose a months-worth of points on the longer stay just because a short/weekend stay posted during the same period and Marriott tells me I'm ineligible. Plus points on the month-long stay are far more valuable than a short weekend.

I think I will talk to the long term stay hotel and ask if they'll bill/post on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. This way at most I'm losing 1 or 2 weeks worth of points. I'd probably still argue with Marriott if they ever tried to deny me points on the longer term stays. And if they quote their own rules then I would ask them to deduct the short stay nights/points and credit the longer ones.
