I only carry
two cards, Gold (4x food) and BBP (2x misc). For my spend, this difference is significantly more than "20k extra points" and doesn't really require much thought other than "gold = food / blue = not food". This is certainly far more simple than the churning exercises you're describing and I am not running the risk of drawing the ire of the RAT team. As you mentioned, to each their own but optimizing your rewards earn is simple and adds up quickly.
