Just spent three nights here. Pretty middling hotel, but good location (very easy to get around).
Had almost 20 Marriott stays in Europe over the past 2 months, with abysmal SNA success. Given the prospect of having a bunch expire, started applying them to stays at mediocre hotels. At Marriott Brussels, finally had one clear -- into a Premium Suite on the third floor. The room is past due for a remodel, the carpets ripped and furniture old. Still, it feels bright and airy, the panoramic city view is very nice, and overall I'd say we've had far worse suites over the years. Suite came with a Nespresso machine and L'Occitane toiletries.
Lounge was closed (250 points or somesuch promised instead, but like most hotels on this trip, these points don't seem to post without intervention). Restaurant breakfast offered, but what a weak breakfast it was! Terrible luncheon meat, the cheapest industrial breads one could imagine, inedible waffles. Egg dishes/hashbrowns/bacon dished out by a disgruntled employee in the open-concept kitchen. A strong contender for our worst breakfast in Europe on this trip, and this wasn't due to Covid measures, this seemed to be their normal offering.
Last time I was in Brussels (a couple years ago), the entire area was a giant road construction site. Now, the plaza and many streets near the hotel have been turned into pedestrian areas. Quite pleasant, although the plaza has street artists performing at night, so with open windows, it was quite noisy until around 11pm. Lots of homeless/beggars around. Not sure if that's why the hotel doors are locked 24/7 -- need to ring a bell or use your keys to get in.
Not rushing back here, but all things told, one could do a lot worse on a €80 BRG.
