10 years ago, I was doing the exact same thing, comparing the price and benefits of a serviced apartment vs Hyatt when I was moving to Shenzhen. It was going to be a ~3 month stay before my apartment was ready to move into. As discussed above, I was able to negotiate a very discounted rate at the GH Shenzhen in one of their suites. BUT, in the fine print of the rate was that I would not get any Hyatt points, stay credit, or Globalist (Diamond at the time) benes like lounge access. Since those were 90% of why I was considering Hyatt, I pushed back and the rate they gave me to include points, etc. was sub substantially higher and I ended up in the service apt instead
I can understand their side as a very discounted rate at a luxury property WITH benefits might not be profitable for them as most GH's have a club lounge with free food/booze that could easily eat into what they're making off you. But I would think in a Hyatt Place, there are very few tangible benefits that are offered to a Globalist member over a Joe Schmoe so hopefully that wouldn't be the same case as what happened to you.
