So I am planning a trip to Korea at the end of the year and have two options for my flight: Delta and Korean Air.
They are essentially the same flight, except for the price difference of +200 for KE.
Looking at the KE partner earning chart, it looks like I'll be earning less mqm but more mqds
My question is,
1. If i book the Korean Air marketed (but Delta operated) flight, will that count as Delta flight or Korean Air flight for accrual purpose?
2. I'm currently in gold and would reach the silver mqd requirement easily this year (plat might be reachable if I travel more for work). Since my gold status is rolling over until 2022 anyway, does it make more sense to book with Delta since its cheaper and earns more mqm?
Thanks
1. It’s based on marketing carrier. So if you have KE flight numbers, it will be accrual based on distance flown.
2. If you don’t care about MQDs this year, then it may make sense to go after MQMs
