What is the benefit of using gift cards at all? Do people buy them at a discount or something? Just seems like such a hassle. occasionally you can buy gift cards at a discount, quite often this only seems open to people who live in North America which is very frustrating to the rest of us, but great for those that do.
As for a special card, not sure it makes much difference now and even it it does that is when you present a card at check-in which you still do when paying with gift cards. Generally the gift cards come out nearer the end of a stay.
