10k miles is as low as AS will offer for a flight of that length; I believe the next buckets are 12.5k, 15k, 20k, and 25k … that said, the award buckets don’t always align with the revenue buckets
you might also think about “Miles and Money” — 10k/20k miles will knock 50% off the base fare (max discount of $100/$200 respectively), and you’ll still earn both redeemable and elite qualification miles for that ticket
