Hmm. That sounds similar indeed, both to National's deal and what Avis offered around the same time. I presume the old issues around Avis free day expiration, blackout dates, NY metro area not allowed, and roundtrips only, are still going to be around. This would be the perfect time to investigate and resolve those issues, especially if customers who remain are probably paying more and expect more as a result.

Another interesting observation. Avis seems to expect similar rental behavior as before covid: a midsize car, and for 2 consecutive days or more. That customer profile and fleet mix sounds like business travelers, but they may be slow to return, if not scale back permanently. I would have expected incentives that account for what currently more numerous leisure travelers might respond to.
