I wouldn't want one in the room without my knowledge.
If the front desk wants to keep some Alexas or Google devices on hand to loan to people who like them, that's fine...but I haven't seen it in practice.
We have Alexa at home but I've never felt the need to take her with me on a trip. We mainly use it for music and to talk to each other when we're at opposite ends of the house.
