Thank you for the explanation about the authorized user gold card .. I will end up getting my wife a Platinum AU card as well then. Do you know if the AU card has the same number as the primary card? One annoyance we've had so far is she cannot add her AU prestige card to Apple Pay because the cards share the same number...

Also, does Amex have a history of adding additional restaurant spending bonuses over time? If not, what strategy do people who spend a lot in restaurants use to maximize points earning in that category?
