With the Amex Platinum - what is the best signup offer currently available and what is the best way to go about getting that? Do they ever waive the annual fee in the first year?

I also need to get a secondary card for my wife. It looks like I can get a 'free' gold card if I sign up for the platinum .. is that solely if the gold card is used as the secondary card? Or can I get a platinum secondary card for her as well as (two, one for each of us) free gold cards? Reason being that I do a lot of spend on restaurants and the gold has a better restaurant earning rate than the Platinum.

Anything else I should be thinking about?

Thank you for the help!
The best public offer for the Amex Platinum is the Resy 125K offer. It also offers 15x on dining and shop small for up to $25K spend in your first 6 months. There is also a targeted 150K offer with 10x on dining and shop small for the same duration and limit. If you spend more than $5K on dining in 6 months, the Resy offer is superior and easier to get. https://resy.com/amex-offers?date=2021-08-22&seats=2

The Platinum Authorized User Gold Card is not the Amex Gold. It does not earn 4x on dining and groceries. Rather, it has the same earning structure as the primary Platinum (so it will earn 15x on dining during your SUB period). If you want 4x dining permanently, you would need to get the Amex Gold directly and then get your wife an AU card for that Gold card.

The Amex Platinum also offers a Platinum AU card that offers perks like Centurion lounge access, elite status, etc but it costs $175 / year. The Platinum Gold AU only offers the GlobalEntry credit.

I don’t know why they make it so confusing. They should just call the free Platinum AU card silver or something.
