The lounge is open, but they have a lot of people doing long-term stays. They're all globalists, so the lounge gets packed in the evenings: advance reservations are required and they do two separate seatings every day. When I tried to make a reservation a couple of weeks ago, it was fully booked on every day available for booking (I think a week out). That said, they put me on a stand-by list and a spot was available every time I got there. The food was really good and they had a bartender mixing drinks. I only spent one afternoon in the lounge and didn't see anything special for "afternoon tea" -- so not sure if that stopped or if I just wasn't there at the right time.
Note that they also have a signup sheet for the pool and that gets packed, too -- especially on weekends. But there, too, I've never been turned away when I just showed up. That was in the evenings; not sure if you'd get equally lucky during the day. You can make the pool reservation some days out as soon as you have a confirmed reservation number. So maybe more suited for something planned further in advance vs. a last-minute stay: would be a shame to not have access to the rooftop pool, which has a very cool view and perfect temperature.
I think it's a good place for an extended stay, but I'm not sure I'd pick it for a Staycation. I'd worry that it's a little too crowded if you're looking for some relaxation. Then again, it's crowded for a reason... their rates are amazing, especially for what you get: I thought even the basic room was fairly spacious, loved the Farmhouse for dinner, and the employees are super friendly.
