Fall is definitely not peak Hawaii travel season. Note that DL suspends their MSP-HNL non-stop flight from 9/6 - 11/19. It does seem somewhat odd that ORD-HNL does not return for holidays and winter like DL flight when demand improves, but perhaps they are still evaluating Hawaii demand for that period and haven't made up their minds yet. If mandatory testing for all passengers are in effect, it's likely going to put a damper on demand.
