Speaking from experience, in CE the row 1 seat assignments selected when gold tend to stick. Row 1 in F always drop out. Therefore for CE for next year I'd say you'll be fine. Just don't move your seats out and then try to get back in to row 1 afterwards. Or if your flight is cancelled and rebooked having soft landed to Silver, you won't be able to select row 1 until approx 72hrs before departure.
That's my experience as well. I had row 1 selected a few years ago when I was Gold and dropped to Silver and the seat selection stuck. I also didn't go into the seat selection page again, just in case looking at it made it change.
