AMS is absolutely huge, and if you end up at a gate at the far end of a pier (as BA usually do) you’re looking at something approaching a 10 minute walk just to get to the central section. It’s akin to being near guaranteed a B or C gate at T5. Passport control is unpredictable, and you could be looking at another 45 minutes. Baggage delivery could still hold you up even after that sort of delay, albeit it would be exceptional to take that long.
As everyone else has said, even considering the 1405 arrival is bordering on madness. The earlier flight would probably also be beyond my risk tolerance on the outbound - AMS suffers from weather issues and it’s not unknown for severe delays to occur.
I would strongly encourage going the night before if you can, having a leisurely breakfast in a hotel, and then going back to Schiphol. If neither an airport hotel nor the centre of Amsterdam appeal, there’s accommodation (certainly a Holiday Inn/Holiday Inn Express) a few minutes’ walk from Amsterdam Arena which is a 13 minute journey on a direct train.
