Looking for some advice from the FF who transit a lot through AMS.

I have booked a flight AMS to DPS for April next year on QR, and I am now looking to book my flight from LHR to AMS, then AMS to LHR.

AMS->DPS departs at 16:15
DPS->AMS arrives at 14:00

I am not sure if QR will check the baggage through on the way back, and I am fairly sure BA will not check the bags through on the way out, so therefore I assume we will have to collect in AMS both times and then re-checkin.

How much time would people suggest we leave between flights.

Current Options into AMS at arriving at either 10:40 or 14:05, clearly the later flight is preferable from a point of view of waiting around the airport (not sure what the lounge is like in AMS.
Options for return flights are departing at either 16:05, or 17:40. so either 2 or 3.5 hours between flights.
