Day 9 KRK-FRA Lufthansa Economy Light (K)
LH 1371
Sometimes I wonder if these flight reviews leave me with memories I would rather let evaporate. For my fourth early start in as many days (06h25 today), along with a very positive first experience of online taxi service Uber, this fairly full Lufthansa flight took me from Krakow to Frankfurt. I gave it full marks for efficiency and punctuality. The rest was just a washout. There is no service to speak of (although, yes, it is nice to get a complimentary small bottle of water and a chocolate) and there is therefore no interaction with the crew. It is purely transactional, the new MO of Lufthansa (though it has been evolving this way for several years now), just like the ultra low cost airlines. The BoB trolley did make a trip down the aisle but I think nobody knew what it was. And who, coming from Poland, would buy anything at those prices anyway? What does it cost Lufthansa, if anything, to offer a cup of tea and biscuit on an early morning flight like this, as they did before? But what really made me keep my mask on and my head down was the sheer unfriendliness of the crew. The Polish guy next to me let his face mask slip below his nose one time too many, so he got reprimanded by a crew member with a threat of being reported to the captain. Out came the captain anyway (It looked like at the front of the plane they had all fixed me with their stares) and, really, he was a bit of a sausage man (make of that what you will). He came pounding down the aisle and told the Polish guy he would be offloaded if he did not comply with the mask rule. Yes, we have to do our duty and wear a properly fitting face mask; yes, cabin crew are front line workers. But I do wonder where we are going with all of this. I deplaned in Frankfurt in a slightly annoyed mood.
