As for the above comments on hub captives, and even though Spirit has fewer flights, many of their times (though not all) still work for me.
And here's another point that ANYONE who has flown Spirit at least once will agree with: the contrast with AA when it comes to a cheerful crew and half-empty overhead bins is, well, shocking.
That’s a very fair point. I’ve refused to fly Spirit, though, because their limited frequency (sometimes only once a day) means that if anything goes wrong I may not reach my destination until days later, if at all. With load factors as high as they are and service as bad as it is on American, though, I don’t know I’d want to encounter IRROPs on American either if I didn’t have status.
