I see the value as equal. $30 = 7.5 Aeroplan

I value an Air Mile at about $0.10 and an Aeroplan Point at about $0.0159 so this seems to work out about the same as before.
That's just the base offer. There will be promo offers i.e. bonus miles on select product. I read somewhere that the best way to max miles is to buy LCBO gift cards from Metro with Amex Plat and net 5 MR per dollar - which then exchange for AE points 1:1. Then use those GCs at LCBO and accumulate AE miles.
Typically the retailer (LCBO) or the manufacturer (Eg Diageo) could pay for bonus miles. Let's say they offer 100 AE mile for 1L JW Black.
So you could buy $100 LCBO GC at Metro, earn 500 MR miles, convert them to 500 AE miles, use the GC at LCBO on a promotional product and net another 100 miles for a total of 600. Yes, I know a lot of work for 600 miles.
