I'm not looking for a place to stay, per se, but I am looking for a good place in Rome to kill five hours with my bags while I wait for my friend to finish work (who I am staying with in Rome). Ideally, somewhere near the Vatican. Can anyone think of a spot where I can buy a day pass and hang out by the pool or something?
On top of Monte Mario is the Cavalieri Hotel (a Waldorf property). The spa is top-rated, nice outdoor pool & good views of Rome. Good art collection for a hotel. I'm sure it's not cheap (non-guest access is €80) and it's more the "over-the-top" Italy than the classic, low-key Italy but it's an option.
