Zagreb is a pleasant city but not a ‘must see’ IMHO. It’s not a patch on Budapest or Prague. Given your time constraints and that you’re flying into and out of Dubrovnik, you should stick with the coast.

I am going for 13 days starting Sept 2---my first time and all over the place. We start in Zagreb and end in Dubrovnik.
Is this like Italy and France where you are safe ordering the "house wine" in restaurants and it is decent? Are they known for red or white or any particular variety?
