The airline being cheap on purchasing and warehousing habits, or just sloppier than usual with operational planning/management? Wouldn’t be a surprise, either way.

But there was no reason not to source a full (covid anyway) service. They had a whole day to figure it out. The canceled flight was on the 14th. Our flight didn't leave until 10pm on the 15th.
Sounds like the airline being cheap and/or having sloppy contingency planning/implementation, but it’s been far longer since I’ve had the desire to eat breakfast on an SAS TATL flight than than to eat some of its other meals.

It seems to me at times that SAS has on-board food and beverage sales as a priority more than other service in-flight. Could it be that they continued F&B sales on board in the typical manner despite the other catering fails?
