True that "ancillary products/services" get more expensive post-booking and that the payments complained about in this thread are indeed the additionall payment for post-booking products/services, but my point is that when you buy FR tickets during uncertain times like these and you don't know if you will be able to travel or have to postpone etc., it is often better/cheaper just to buy the basic fare (without seat, lugagge, priority boarding etc) and then skip the ticket if you can't travel. When ancillary products/services are also booked the total fare becomes so high that it prohibits skipping the ticket if travel is not possible; so you loose out on the flexibilty by paying too much.
It can be added that FR tickets are more expensive bought far out than if bought 1-4 weeks in advance - this is my own conclusions made from monitoring several FR destinations that I contemplated buying tickets for this summer.
