Thanks to those who responded. I've decided not to risk violating any policies as that is not in my nature. It will be a slight detour, but I found a hampton in Fort Wayne where the max is 75 lbs. Made me feel much better to book that room, then risk breaking the rules of a 25 or 50 lb hotel.

It is a $75 fee though, but based on anecdotal evidence, maybe I'll get lucky and won't get charged!
