It's specficially group bookings, not even GGLs get reservations there. You go to the group desk on the day of departure and they will sort it out there and will try to accomodate preferences such as window or aisle.#

G bucket is by no means a group booking, BAH uses other buckets, and awayday fare also went into G (and where seat reservation followed the usual rules).
